Go Weekend

Way back in January our team traveled to Nashville for a weekend of training. That training was focused on learning how to work together as a team by doing simulated activities.

 We had our second training weekend on Sunday April 15. This training was titled Go weekend and focused more on the specifics of our trip. It is April in Michigan which means the weather can literally be anything. Our contact people in the main office of Let's Start Talking (LST) understood how far a drive it would be for us to come to Nashville again so they were going to fly to us. The original plan was for Craig (LST representative) to fly to Michigan and we would meet on campus. Saginaw encountered a ice storm that started Friday night. The roads were bad. It was a combination of ice and slush. So Craig stayed in a hotel in Detroit and we were able to meet on campus but the meeting was done via skype with Craig. (Thank God for modern technology)

Hannah and Chad were lovely hostess and provided food for the team before we started our meeting. Hannah wanted to make sure there was enough food for everyone so they bought a four foot sub. That would have been plenty if the weather cooperated with us.

After we filled our stomachs it was time for training to start. Some of the things we talked about was safety, party planning and ways to create meaningful relationships with our readers. We also looked at some of the materials we were sent and got our  T-shirts.



Throughout the whole day of training our team was reminded that we need to be flexible. We may plan something and then God says nope that is not how it is going to happen. We have no clue what could happen when we are in Cambodia. We pray that we would be flexible and open to the plans God has. We have 89 days until we leave. Our team is getting excited as the trip becomes closer.

  • All of us are super close to reaching our goal financially prayers that we would reach that goal 
  • We have two more training sessions (just the six of us)  prayers that these last training's would equip us for reading the gospel with our readers. 
  • Prayers for our readers in Cambodia.

Lord, I am Grateful

My team and I have been back in America for a few days now. We are all now beginning to adjust to being back in America and are reflecting on our time in Cambodia aka the Kingdom of Wonder. We are all awestruck on how quickly our trip went. As I think back on my time in Cambodia, one word comes to mind...Grateful. Most nights after we got back to the hotel from our busy day we would like to have a time of worship to refresh our souls. Hannah would play the ukulele and pick a few songs for us to sing. One particular night we sang the song Grateful by Elevation Worship. The chorus of the song says: "I give thanks, for all you have done And I will sing, of your mercy and Your love Your love is unfailing Lord, I am grateful I give thanks, for all you have done I won't forget, all the battles you have won Your love is unfailing Lord, I am grateful" For some reason, this song was exactly what I needed to hear that night and was a good reminder to me to be grateful no matt...

So What Are We Even Doing Here?

Good morning! (Or should I say good evening for everyone back in the US!) I’ve (Chad typing here) got a three part update for you this morning. This past weekend (Aug. 4th & 5th), Hannah, Connie, Stephanie, and I went to Siem Reap, the city where Angkor Wat and many other ancient temples are located, while Milah and Kayla stayed back and spent time adventuring in Phnom Penh with some of the staff here and a few of our readers.
