Who Are We?

Hannah and Chad 



My name is Hannah and I am originally from Flushing, Michigan, but live in Saginaw with my husband Chad. We got married last June, and God placed it on our hearts to serve him and GO. We've always had an interest in Let's Start Talking, since we were introduced to it in His House, the college ministry we were involved in. After prayer and contemplation, we took the jump and officially applied for a trip! We were so excited to see other college students excited about serving God in this way!

Originally we thought we would be serving in Thailand, but God made it clear that he wanted us in Cambodia instead, which actually excited our team more than Thailand! All the praise to God in opening up our hearts to be flexible and GO where HE sends us. I can't wait to see how God works in the hearts of the readers, and in our hearts as well.

Originally from Sebewaing, MI, I now live in Saginaw with my wife, Hannah (read about her above!). I graduated from Saginaw Valley in December 2016 with a degree in secondary education. Currently, I teach 10th and 11th grade English and World History at Hill-McCloy High School in Montrose, MI. I first heard about Let's Start Talking (LST) my third year in college, though I did not pursue it then. Last summer, Hannah and I felt called by God to do something for Him in our young and child-free stage of life, and LST came up in conversation. Since then, God has brought together four other remarkable Christian women onto our team, and I am excited to see how God uses both his Word and the relationships we build in Cambodia to further his kingdom in all nations.

Stephanie

My name is Stephanie and I recently graduated from Saginaw Valley with a B.S. in Biology. Over the past year God has been working in my heart and teaching me to look beyond a life of being comfortable. Until this year, I never saw myself going on an overseas mission trip but when He calls us to GO, He immediately qualifies us. All we have to do is say "Yes" and He will bless our obedience. I'm excited to be a light and to really pour into the hearts of the people in Cambodia!

I am Kayla Massey. Currently I am attending Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). Since my first week at SVSU, in September 2016, God has been working in my heart and opening my eyes to who He truly is and the love He has for all of His children. At the beginning of  2017 God opened my eyes up to all the internationals on my campus, many of whom were from the 10/40 window. Then I began learning more and more about God’s great commission and how He desires and commands for every tongue and nation to be reached with His Gospel. Through opening my eyes up to the internationals on campus, others speaking into my life, and reading the Gospel, God drastically changed my heart and desires to share the Gospel not only with people in my own community, but also with people around the world who have never heard the name of Jesus Christ. God has blessed me and is allowing me to be his vessel in Cambodia where I will share the Gospel with a Hindu dominated culture. I thank God so often for opening my eyes up to the heart he has for all His people. I can’t keep His truth, joy, and life-giving word to myself.

Milah

Hello, my name is Milah! I'm 20 years old. I am a junior at Saginaw Valley, and I am entering the Nursing program this fall. I am passionate about Jesus, people, and music. I have come to know God and His character, and have developed a deep love for my Savior. I trust in Him and His love for me and for people, and I trust that it is God who is bringing me to Spiritual maturity until the day Christ returns. I know that God has a global purpose, and He invites us to help fulfill His purpose. I am learning to fully trust Him and rely on Him alone, and praise Him in the highs AND lows because He is worth it!!! His perspective is so much greater than mine. I really desire to serve God all my days, whatever that looks like. That's why flexibility is important. I want to be flexible and willing to do what He calls me to do and go where He calls me to go. So, in this season, I am going to Cambodia to serve Him, because every nation matters to God. What an exciting life it is to live for CHRIST.

I am Connie. I am 22 years old. God has called me to go be his hands and feet. He whispered to me my senior year of high school that he was going to send me across the world. I laughed then because I was terrified of stepping out of my comfort zone. I went to Juarez, Mexico my second year of college for spring break. During that trip I was reminded of the whisper God spoke to me back in 2015. After helping build a house for a family in Mexico I knew I couldn’t say no anymore. I knew that I wanted to obey his calling for me to go.

Lord, I am Grateful

My team and I have been back in America for a few days now. We are all now beginning to adjust to being back in America and are reflecting on our time in Cambodia aka the Kingdom of Wonder. We are all awestruck on how quickly our trip went. As I think back on my time in Cambodia, one word comes to mind...Grateful. Most nights after we got back to the hotel from our busy day we would like to have a time of worship to refresh our souls. Hannah would play the ukulele and pick a few songs for us to sing. One particular night we sang the song Grateful by Elevation Worship. The chorus of the song says: "I give thanks, for all you have done And I will sing, of your mercy and Your love Your love is unfailing Lord, I am grateful I give thanks, for all you have done I won't forget, all the battles you have won Your love is unfailing Lord, I am grateful" For some reason, this song was exactly what I needed to hear that night and was a good reminder to me to be grateful no matt...

So What Are We Even Doing Here?

Good morning! (Or should I say good evening for everyone back in the US!) I’ve (Chad typing here) got a three part update for you this morning. This past weekend (Aug. 4th & 5th), Hannah, Connie, Stephanie, and I went to Siem Reap, the city where Angkor Wat and many other ancient temples are located, while Milah and Kayla stayed back and spent time adventuring in Phnom Penh with some of the staff here and a few of our readers. I was also thinking that we haven’t explained what we are actually doing besides exploring and having parties, so there is also a quick refresher on our work.
